Gary Polhill

Senior post-doctoral research scientist specialising in agent-based modelling of coupled human-natural systems. His research has explored the dynamics of heterogeneous heuristic decision-making algorithms in agricultural land use change, and how to influence land managers to improve biodiversity in different contexts of economic change. More recently, he has worked on incorporating qualitative research findings into agent-based models, and making such models more transparent. He has given invited lectures at several universities, and the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Uncertainties in Environmental Modelling and Consequences for Policy Making. He works in Work Package 6, developing agent-based models of organisations.
